Ai We Wei at Budapest's Ernst MuseumAi Wei Wei mania hits Budapest as his exhibition of 226 black and white photos from 1983 – 1993 when he lived in the Big Apple has made its way from the Asia Society in New York to the Ernst Múzeum.  I have provided a brief write up on our Budapest Árt site.  His photos ceratinly represent another era and especially engaging are his photos of the Tompkins Square riots of 1988.  To open the exhibition, Ai Wei Wei chose the following introduction written in 2008,

The New York I knew no longer exists…Looking back on the past, I can see that these photographs are facts, but not necessarily true…The present always surpasses the past, and the future will not care about today.
