The New Clyfford Still Museum in Denver made headlines in 2011 as it sold 4 Still paintings at Sotheby’s fall sale for $114 million to raise money for the new museum in Denver.  Well one museum going certainly wasn’t impressed.  The Denver Post reports that on December 29, 36 year old Denver woman Carmen Lucette Tisch approached the large painting 1957-J-No. 2 (9.5ft x 13 ft), pulled down her trousers and after repeatedly punching the painting as she slid down to the floor, urinated on herself.  She was taken into custody and accused of causing over $10,000 in damage.  Lynn Kimbrough, a spokeswoman for the Denver District Attorney’s Office stated, “It doesn’t appear she urinated on the painting or that the urine damaged it, so she’s not being charged with that.”

I too thought that this Still painting fit the crime description. However, the assaulted painting was actually black, white, and red all over!
