Mersad BerberMersad Berber the Bosnian artist known for his excellent draftsmanship and handling of classical human models recently passed away at age 72.  Berber was born in 1940 in the Bosnian town of Bosanski Petrovac.  He later went on to study in at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana where he emerged as on of the young stars of the Yugloslav art scene garnering attention from abroad with exhibitions in Canada and Italy in the late 60s and early 70s.  In 1981, his screen print Byzantium III was acquired by the Tate in London.  Berber continued work in the visual arts across all fields from painting to set design to work as a  graphic artist and in 1985 completed his animation work Tempo Secondo.  Berber passed away in Zagreb where along with Dubrovnik, he had been living and working since 1992.
