The New York Times has reported that Randall White, an anthropologist at New York University along with 15 other anthropologists from the US, UK, and France have discovered what they believe to be the oldest depictions of female genitilia on cave paintings.  The works are over 37,000 years old and were discovered on a collapsed ceiling at the Abri Castanet site in southwest Dordogne, France.
The drawings include what appear to be images of the female vulva, illustrated by circles with small slits on one side.

Their findings have been posted in the latest issue of The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
