The New York Times has reported that Picasso’s iconic Blue Period painting of a woman ironing in the Guggenheim collection has a mysterious male figure lurking beneath the surface.  X-rays have revealed a man with a moustache in a three quarter profile.  Other than his existence, very little is known about the man.  Luckily Bank of America has provided funds further academic research on the painting.  Hopefully all will be revealed when the Guggenheim opens its exhibition  Picasso Black and White  on October  5 2012.
