$1 Million Norman Rockwell Painting Stolen from Storage Unit

The New York Post has reported that the Norman Rockwell painting Sport (Man in Fishing Boat) which was sold by a Private Collection from Birmingham, Alabama at Sotheby’s in New York on May 22, 2013 has gone missing from its storage unit in Queens. The painting was estimated at $500,000 – $700,000 before the hammer fell at $1,085,000.  The Post writes,

It was discovered missing last month from Welpak Art Moving and Storage in Ridgewood, cops said.

The Welpak location offers shipping and storage for museums and private collectors. It has a state-of-the-art security system, according to the company’s Web site.
