The New York Post is reporting that the widow of artist and collector Armand Arman is suing Art and Auction for $300K after photographers broke a Nigerian terra cotta Nok sculpture while doing a piece on the collection of Cornice and Armand Arman in May of 2011. The sculpture is believed to have remained intact for the past 2630 years and was acquired by the couple in the early 1990s.  Commenting on the current state of the sculpture Cornice Arman states that the piece “was smashed into a myriad of pieces (it) cannot be restored and is a total loss.”
