Rocker Pete Doherty Sells Amy Winehouse Blood Painting for £35,000

The Guardian has reported that the painting titled Ladylike that was a joint piece by badboy rocker Pete Doherty and the recently deceased trouble rocker Amy Winehouse sold at auction for £35,000. The painting was one of twenty works on display at the Cob Gallery in London from February 26 – March 4, 2012. Most of the exhibited works were for sale for around £5000, however, the Winehouse collaboration was quoted as P.O.A., Winehouse died roughly 7 months earlier on July 23, 2011.  The auction by Doherty at the Cob Gallery after the run of his exhibition also included some personal memorabilia such as notebooks, guitars, and furniture.  The Winehouse painting was expected to raise £50,000 – £80,000 by the private seller.  A portion of the proceeds will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.  In an interview with the Independent Doherty elaborated,

“Amy was on the phone to her dad when she did that [painting], she said, ‘Dad, I’m with Pete and he’s making me draw with my blood!’ He didn’t like me much, her dad”.
