Stolen Italian Artwork Cache Recovered After 41 Years

Adnkronos.com has reported a major victory for Italian police in Rome after they have recovered 37 stolen paintings that have been missing for 41 years.  The stash includes valuable paintings by Rubens, Poussin, and Van Dyck.  The paintings are believed to be worth 7.5 million euros.  Five paintings from the original collection are still missing.

The stolen art came to the attention of police after some of the pieces were spotted in a catalogue published for an upcoming auction. They were to put up for sale by a women identified as M.F…The owner at the time of the 1971 robbery has since died and the art will pass to his heirs.
